Phrasing - key words
Certain song work very well by drawing in phrases (think rainbows).
Draw a rainbow with the amount of phrases that are in a song.
Have the children write 3 - 4 key words in each phrase.

Words on board
Write the words to the song on the board. While singing through the song, pass an erase to certain children and have them erase a word.
To add to this, have the children draw a picture of the word they erase.
Soon you should have just pictures!

Actions - Children make up
Have the children or each class come up with an action for a phrase. You can print these before Primary and then hand them to the class. Give them 1 minute. Doesn't take much time! Then have their class stand as you sing their phrase.
Actions
A simple way to teach a new song is to use actions. Have a child come show an action for each phrase. As you sing the song have one child leave each time through. For Jr, have them close their eyes and guess who is gone. For both Jr and Sr, sing the song through without the person showing the action. For more fun, have a teacher do the action.
Another activity, have the children spread throughout the room. Those singing must turn to the person doing the action as they sing the line.
